Maggie lives a dull, lonely life, and her friend feels that it is time for her to get out of her apartment long enough to meet a real man and have real conversation, perhaps even real sex (toys don’t count). Ian has been hounded by his best friend to let Madame Eve with 1Night Stand dating service set him up with someone. Neither Maggie nor Ian want to follow through with the crazy scheme until Madame Eve pushes them into fulfilling each other’s fantasies.
Maggie’s Secret Wish is a sexy short story with likable characters, a stimulating plot and steamy sex. Ms. Kaye’s story was a fast paced, easy read.

Maggie’s Secret Wish is an amazing story of a woman who wants to explore her sexuality. She is nervous about taking that step but can’t get the thought of spanking out of her head. Rather than taking chances with just anyone, she contacts Madame Eve because of her sterling reputation. Madame Eve seems to know just what Maggie needs and sets about to make it happen. But Maggie is nervous and tries to back out. Even Ian takes some prodding to agree to it. Yet when the two come together, it is combustible!
The idea of having a person know you so intimately that they can take care of your every need is a fantasy that everyone has. Maggie’s Secret Wish explores this concept in an exciting and tantalizing way. Just the idea of a man like Ian made me short of breath! I couldn’t imagine having him at my fingertips! Maggie is your typical workaholic. All work and no play. To make matters worse, she is still thinking of her ex months later. Her friend decides to take matters in her own hands. Having found success with Madame Evangeline’s high end dating service that led to her true love she wants to help out others. Apprehensive at first and then down right scared, Maggie sends the email and goes to her one night stand.
Ian is nearly forty and wondering what do I have to show for it? He writes steamy books and works part-time as a Dom dealing out punishments to his clients. What he wants is a woman to love and to be loved in return. With his kinks, would any woman ever see past this? When contacted about Maggie from Madame Evangeline, Ian was intrigued.
This is one hot, short read that really packs a punch. Ms. Kaye establishes great characterization and emotions in Maggie and Ian from the beginning. I loved both of them separately and then together. While the sex is beyond hot and Maggie’s wish is granted, the emotions between Ian and Maggie run deep. My only complaint is that I felt the story was too short. I realize that this was a one night stand and it was written as such, but I would like to have seen more of them together.
I highly recommend Maggie’s Secret Wish for anyone that wants a quick hot read about two people that were destined for each other. This will not be my last One Night Stand. Great job.

REVIEW: – Two Lips Reviews 2-15-12 by Tina – 5 Kisses
Starting Over by Starla Kaye is a beautiful story. I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t want this book to ever end. I like when even a short story like this one is beautifully written with emotion and love. Corbin is an uptight businessman who is really in need of discovering his sexuality. Matt is recovering from the biggest loss in his life. Together these two men have just what the other needs. This one night stand might lead to a whole lot more. I know I will not forget this story any time soon, and I’ll be looking for more books by Ms. Kaye in the future.

Corbin is nervous to begin his new life as a gay man even though he has come out. He is too nervous to go on a date so his ex-wife persuades him to try out 1Night Stand dating service to begin with. Matt is trying to get over the loss of his partner and to continue on with his life so he decides to take the plunge and contact 1Night Stand.
This was a very good story that I really enjoyed reading. Corbin is understandably nervous and scared about starting his new life as a gay man after he embraced his sexuality. When he meets up with Matt he really hasn’t got any idea of what to do or expect. Matt is surprised at his reaction to Corbin, as although he agreed to the date he just thought it would be to ease back in to the dating game.
The two men have a great reaction to each other and both of them are in effect starting over in the dating game. The sex is hot and I liked that we got a bit of background about both men even before they met.
Now one thing I noticed and I can’t believe one of the proof-readers missed it was that Matt’s partner was said to have died in a plane crash but the third time the crash was mentioned it had changed to a car crash. Honestly, that simple mistake had me pulled from the book and going back to check the other times it was mentioned just to make sure I wasn’t going mad.
But, that aside, I recommend this to those who love hot men, hot sex, new beginnings and a happy ever after.
REVIEW – The Romance Studio 9-12-11 by Teresa T. – 4.5 Hearts – Very Sensual
This is part of a series from Decadent Publishing. All the heroines (or heroes) in this series either have friends who send them to, or hear about, Madame Evangeline’s high-end dating service 1 Night Stand. The entire series is written by different authors.
Corbin is a divorced, businessman whose ex wife convinced him to sign up for Madame Eve’s service. Matt owns a greenhouse and landscape design business. His partner, business and life, died in an accident six months before and he was encouraged by his staff and friends to sign up. Both men are a bit nervous, and it’s really kinda cute.
As Corbin is a ‘virgin’, Matt is probably the perfect man to pair him with as his first experience with a man wasn’t very good and he wants to make sure Corbin’s is good. Wowee! This is such a good story! Matt and Corbin are so good together, and they help each other grow (no pun intended) and heal. The only real issue I had is when we first meet Matt at 13%, it says Matt’s partner died in a plane crash, then at 70% it says he died in a car accident.
All in all, I totally loved this novella! This is a stand-alone story, yes I say this in all my reviews for this series, and there are 33 so far in the series, and I am so happy bought this one! Ms. Kaye does not write only M/M stories, she has regular hetero stories (I own a few) and even another earlier story in this series! Now I need to go find her other works I may have missed!

Madame Evangeline displays her matchmaking prowess again in Starting Over, Starla Kaye’s contribution to the 1 Night Stand series that revolves around an exclusive dating service with a reputation for finding ideal matches for its clients.
Corbin Bradley is a successful business man who has only recently left an unsuccessful marriage, a failure that still troubles him even though his ex-wife doesn’t hold any resentment toward him. Finally coming to terms with his homosexuality, Corbin and Pamela Bradley divorced, though they remain close friends, and it is Pamela herself who encourages Corbin to consider dating, allowing himself the chance to be who he’s meant to be and with whom he’s meant to be.
Though hesitant, Corbin eventually acquiesces and contacts 1NightStand, a terrifying prospect for a man who’s only ever been with women. Is a one night stand with a stranger really the way he wants to proceed with his first experience dating, and possibly having sex with another man? That question becomes moot when he’s quickly matched with Matt DuCharme and it’s arranged that the two men will meet at a Caribbean Resort for a night.
It has been six months since Matt lost his partner, but he’s ready to dip his toe back into the dating waters now, ready for the possibility of exploring something new with someone new, and is intrigued by the fact that he will potentially be the first man of Corbin’s new life, even if it’s for nothing more than to offer support and encouragement. When the two men meet, however, it quickly becomes obvious the sexual attraction they feel for each other won’t be leading to lengthy conversations.
As arranged, Corbin and Matt have their one night together, then part ways. But just because they are out of sight does not mean they are out of mind. Starting Over is the heartwarming story of two men who find a second chance at love and happiness. Corbin and Matt are an ideal match, indeed, Matt being the perfect teacher to Corbin’s very willing and enthusiastic pupil. Though some of the language during the love scenes was perhaps a bit too instructional for my taste, which blunted the erotic potential a bit, the story and the characters themselves were appealing, and I was invested in the outcome of their tale.
REVIEW – Queer Magazine Online 8-31-11 by Serena Yates
This is a great story with a message of hope and a new beginning. It’s subtle at first, as we are introduced to the two characters and their pasts, explaining what it is that’s missing in their lives. Like Madam Eve, who arranges all these mystery matches in the 1 Night Stand series, it was immediately obvious to me that Corbin and Matt are a great match. It took the two of them a little longer – which is a good thing or we wouldn’t have this wonderful story to read.
Corbin is a recently divorced man who struggles with the transition to being an active gay man. He has come out, but is afraid of taking the next step. He figures dating men won’t be the same as dating women and his fear paralyses him. Luckily he has enough courage to go for a 1 Night Stand, in effect ‘forcing’ himself to jump in the deep end.
Matt is devastated by his lover’s death in an accident and in dire need of moving on. He has no idea how to do that, but figures a 1 Night Stand might kick start him into action. And, boy, does it ever. For different reasons, the physical bonding that ensues over some very hot sex is exactly what each of these men needs. The sex is more ‘educational’ in the beginning, so Corbin can learn, but it quickly involves a lot more than the men’s bodies.
If you like stories with characters who have a past, hot sex that has a purpose in the development of the plot and the characters’ relationship, and a happy ending, this book may be for you.
